Phoneme Cards

These cards are a tool for phonics instruction. Paste them into a notebook so your child can sort the words that he or she has learned. This allows you to keep a "words I know" notebook, as Charlotte Mason recommended, while also being sure that no phonemes are neglected. 

So, what is a phoneme? A phoneme is the smallest component of language. There are 44 phonemes, or sounds, in the English language. Each phoneme is represented by different letters, called graphemes. Each card in this set shows the most common graphemes underneath the phoneme.
